Casale Barbenzi is a lovingly restored stone farmhouse high above the Valtiberina. Olive trees, lavender and roses grow all around, and Lake Montedoglio lies in the valley below.
Sansepolcro is 15 minutes away by car. Yet in the evening all you hear are the crickets.

The upper Tiber valley lies in eastern Tuscany, right on the border with Umbria. Piero della Francesca painted here, Michelangelo was born here, and the villages serve pici, truffles and pecorino.
